Education Goals

NCTU’s Department of Industrial Engineering and Management seeks to equip the world’s next-generation engineers with the ability to discover, analyze, propose and test innovative solutions to society’s urgent engineering and management problems. We have set the following learning objectives for our students.

Professional:Equip students with the professional background and logical thinking abilities to analyze and solve various IEM-related problems.Teamwork:Give students the ability to build team spirit and communication skills.Humanity:Teach students to care for humanity from business ethics and international perspectives.

Core Competencies

Students of IEM at NCTU are required to obtain the following core competencies:

Undergraduate Program:

  1. Applying their knowledge in mathematics, science and information technology to the IEM field.
  2. Identifying and analyzing various IEM-related problems, proposing solutions and making decisions.
  3. Effective communication and team building.
  4. Understanding the importance of management expertise for business entities and society; building the desire and ability for continuous learning.
  5. Understanding professional ethics and social responsibilities; possessing an international perspective. 

 

Master Program:

Possessing the capabilities to identify and analyze various IEM-related problems and to propose innovative solutions.

Part-Time Master Program:

Possessing the capabilities to identify and analyze various IEM-related issues and to propose innovative solutions.

Doctorate Program: 

Possessing the capabilities to identify and analyze various IEM-related issues and to propose innovative solutions.
